Summer Soiree League
I’m excited to be launching my first ever league this summer as a celebration of welcoming Troop Mahjong to the Bay State Bam community!
I know that the word “League” can be a little intimidating, so I am devoting some space to answer common questions and concerns about what the league is and how we will come together in the spirit of friendly competition and fun.
At Bay State Bam, we know that our community is built upon the foundation of new(ish) players. We expect cordiality at the table, kindness and understanding in gameplay, and during open play encourage players to support each other along their Mahjong journey.
Everyone in the Bay State Bam community is encouraged and welcome to register for league this summer, regardless of how long you have been playing American Mahjong.
That being said, this is league play. We are playing competitively for points and prizes, so the rules will stand. As League Hostess, Brittany will be the Rules Referee, encouraging enforcement of NJML Standards. No table side assistance will be provided for hand selection or rules.
League Participants Should:
Be able to play a hand of Mahjong unassisted (remembering order of play, basic rules of gameplay etc.)
Expect that there will be league players at the table who move at different speeds during gameplay.
A League Environment focused on regular gameplay, friendly competition, and FUN baked in.
Expect that pacing reminders will be given throughout the league gameplay times, and that they should be able to get through a minimum of 4 games of Mahjong in a 3 hour span.
League Registration Includes:
Founding Membership into Troop Mahjong Boston/Worcester
Social Event/Troop Mahjong Open Play Night on July 27th
Welcome Bag/Swag
4 Optional Weeks of Gameplay, with a minimum of 4 Games Per Day of League (potentially more!)
Daily Prizes for 1st Winners at each League Table, and a Daily Raffle for each day of league (1 ticket/entrant for the day of league, additional ticket for each subsequent Mahjong)
Entry into the leaderboard tracking for grand prizes ( Boutique Tile Set, Custom Racks, and Mahjong Bag Travel Set)
Free Download Code for Mah Wins App (used to track points during league)
Gameplay on Luxury Tile / Mahjong Sets weekly
League Scoring Information:
League points will be calculated per NJML Rules
Points from the top TWO weeks of gameplay will be recorded in the final prize leaderboard
Participants may register for two, three, or four weeks- only the top two weeks of points will count towards final leaderboard.
If a table plays more than 4 games during league play time, the lowest score will be dropped for each player at that table.
All league scores will be recorded in Mah Wins for qualification.
All registrations are final. you may opt to sub in a player for a week you are unable to attend, however it is your responsibility to procure a sub for your seat if desired.
